my topic of conversation today is how I feel about xl bully's getting banned and my biased views on the subject. I feel there should be a new legislation on owning a xl bully. For instance just as how a British resident would need to obtain a licence to own a shotgun, both could be dangerous in the wrong hands. Teenagers would not go out of their way and take the time to obtain a license to own a XL Bully therefore the majority of careless owners would drastically reduce.
In the hands of responsible owners XL Bully's can be a gentle affectionate breed of dog. I don't think it is fair to enforce the law f banning this breed because these dogs can be trained to be loyal and obedient. Most dogs could potentially be a risk but in fact it is the owners intentions that are the greater risks.
XL Bullies are muscular dogs and they have very strong jaws, with bad training and being placed into the wrong hands this could prove lethal, This is where I feel this new legislation could prove beneficial and help prevent these types of breeds getting into the wrong hands.
They have already placed Pitbull's onto the ban list but this has done nothing to avoid dog attacks. What causes the dog attacks are idiotic owners and bad breeding. People who have no idea on how to control and train these breeds of dogs are also the ones putting a bad name on these breeds. This is also another reason I feel creating a dog licence would be very beneficial to helping reduce dog attacks or potentially stop them in general.
I also think a good thing to include in this legislation is what dog breeds owners should be allowed to own, for example if you're a first time dog owner you could own something like a Labrador or a golden retriever as there dogs don't require much training.
I think we need to wake up and stop blaming these dogs and start making the owners take responsibility and punish them, NOT THE DOGS!.
As a nation we need to stop blaming the breeds of dogs for these attacks. Its the owners, The owners aren't putting the work in, the owners are getting these dogs as a status dog, the owners are getting exotic colours, exotic breeds. ITS GOT TO STOP!. License the owners to be able to have these dogs and prevent these attacks from actually taking place.
