Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is a federal agency that is responsible for ensuring the safety and health of workers. It sets standards and enforces them, including on-site inspections and telephone investigations.

OSHA provides training and education to help employers maintain a safe workplace. It also responds to serious injuries and illnesses. If an employee believes his or her workplace is unsafe, he or she can file a complaint.

Workers are entitled to receive copies of medical records and work-related injury reports. They are also permitted to speak confidentially with OSHA inspectors. However, employers may not retaliate against employees who complain to OSHA.

Workplace safety standards are developed by OSHA and are based on common sense and best practices. These include providing a ventilation system to remove smoke and dust, providing guards on dangerous machines, and providing a safe work environment for employees.

OSHA also requires employers to provide training for jobs involving dangerous substances. Employees should receive information in language they understand. In addition, they should be trained in using PPE and hazardous tools.

OSHA's nationwide standards are located in Title 29 of the Code of Federal Regulations. Some sections apply to specific industries, while others cover more general standards.
