Emergency sos: What you need to know
The new feature, a major upgrade from the old version of SOS, enables you to call emergency services without having to unlock your iPhone or use the Home button, which is often inconvenient when you’re stuck in a situation. To activate it, press and hold the side button and volume buttons until the emergency slider appears.
To call 911, simply drag the slider to place a call, or you can keep holding down the side and volume buttons. After a short countdown, your phone will automatically place the call.
Share info with emergency contacts:
You can send updates about your location, battery status and when you start and end a call to any of your emergency contacts. They’ll also be able to see your Medical ID, which can be used by first responders in case they need to know things like medication allergies.
Set up Medical ID:
If you haven’t already done so, it’s worth setting up your medical ID in Apple’s Health app. This allows emergency responders to know what medicines you take and other medical details, even if your phone is locked or unresponsive. geofence device
