UN uses Minecraft as a planning tool for communities from third world countries

In an attempt to improve the quality of neighbourhoods in third world countries, United Nations Habitat has collaborated with Minecraft. Minecraft
This three-year partnership is part of an initiative called "Block by Block", which seeks to transform 300 public spaces by the year 2016.
Students will receive a special Minecraft version that has virtual representations of communities that are already in existence. They can then make use of the game's tools and design their own neighborhood.
UN Habitat stated that the game could help provide feedback from the local population to inform urban planners and decision makers about the best improvements that can be made for the community.
The pilot project was launched in Kibera, Nairobi.
