Millinium developement goals
- 8 developement goals made in 2000 to reduce the number of people in extreme proverty by 2015.
Example: Eradicate hunger and extreme poverty.

Global goals for sustainability
- 19 global goals to achieve in the next15 years to end extreme poverty, fight inequality and injustices, and to fix climate change.
Example: Clean water and sanitation/life below water

Ecological footprint
- the print/mark one leaves on the environment
Example: A person who walks to places will have a smaller footprint than a person who rides the car every where.

LEDC
- Less economically developed countries
Ecample: Countries in Africa like Nigeria, Zimbabwe

MEDC
- More economically developed countries
Example: Switzerland, Germany

Crude birth rate
- Number of births per 1000
- Ratio of total population/total # of births-- expressed in percent
Example: Countries in Africa such as Nigeria, Uganda have a high crude birth rate, while MEDC's like Germany and Italy have low crude birth rates.

Crude death rate
- Number of deaths per 1000
- Ratio of total population/total # of deaths-- expressed in percent
Example: Countries in Africa have a high crude death rate, while countries like UAE and Quatar have low crude death rates.

Natural growth rate
- Birth rate - death rate
Example: Countries in Africa have positive, increasing natural growth rates, but countries like Russia and Japan have decreasing growth rates.

Infant mortality
- Deaths in first year of life per 1000
Example: LEDC's like Nigeria and Zimbabwe have high infant mortality, MEDC's like Germany and Norway have low infant mortality.

Child mortality
- Deaths in first 5 years of life per 1000
Example: Nigeria, Angola have high child mortality, Australia, Belgium have low child mortality rates.

Fertility rate
- The number of children per woman
Example: Niger, Uganda have high fertility rates, South Korea and Australia have low fertility rates.

Life expectancy
- The number of years one is expected to live
Example: Countries like Zambia have low life expectency, Japan and Singapore have high life expectancy

Population momentum
- When even after the country reaches replacement level fertility (just over 2 babies per woman) the population of a country will continue to grow for a number of years. Momentum occurs when a large proportion of women are in the child bearing years.
Example: In India, even though the fertility rates are at its replacement level the babies that were born before grow old and have children therefore the population still increases.

Age of Peak Child
- When the percentage of children to the population is the highest
Example: In 1960, there were 1 billion children under the age 15 and that was about 35 percent of the worlds population.

Sustainablility
- Developement that improves living conditions in the present without compromising resources for the future generations.
Example: Sustainable developement could be developing solar energy, wind energy ect.
