Lauzen's 2017 Celluloid Ceiling Report assessed the gender balance in 250 of the top films that are grossing domestically.

It was revealed that only 18% (editors/writers/cinematographers/executive director, producer, and producers in the report) were female.

This number is the same that it was in 1998 (17%).

Diverse government initiatives have been developed to combat gender inequality in the workplace. Film industry is a prime example of this. Women and racial minorities do not fare much better.

From personal experience Arzu Aliyeva stated that the film industry hires on social networks. Although social capital can be good but it's often not accessible to all people.

Women suffer the most from this form of practice.

Research suggests that films that have male producers make up more than 70 percent of their creative teams. The same goes for female producers which typically include 60% male members in their teams of creatives. From any angle, males have always dominated key role in the creative process.

James Bond's films feature female characters that are victims and damsels or those who are in need.

In the majority of cases, women aren't depicted as their real selves in the form of fictional roles.

The misrepresentation is likely to be caused by a shortage in female filmmakers, specifically women of color who can tell the true story of women.

The question of censorship is another issue when it comes to the display of "taboos" concerns like rape, sexuality and harassment.

In traditional societies women avoid discussing certain subjects as taboos. Very few platforms like Netflix permit women to speak about taboo subjects.

Stereotypes can create a myriad of problems.

It impacts one's self-esteem, judgmental ability and also mental well-being. Self-stereotyping could result in an individual acting in a particular way in order to feel a sense of belonging.
