The second map, to be released next month , shows how the fire spread across the city starting with Thomas Farriner's bakery (pictured).

Mini games will allow players to relive the Great Fire. They can join fire fighters fighting the flames using traditional tools such as replicas of the 17th Century firetruck (pictured) or leather buckets.

They can then walk through different terrains, including caves and forests. SERVER For a bird's eye view, players can fly up in the air.

Players can now experience virtual reality, thanks to the game launching for the Oculus Rift.

Joshua Blair, the museum's digital learning coordinator, stated that the map that was the first in the Great Fire1666 series let us take visitors into London's life and times in 1666. We were able to recreate the narrow streets and iconic landmarks such St Paul's Cathedral or London Bridge to create the setting for the fire.

He said: 'This second map is the place where the Great Fire story really unfolds and we hope that players will be enthralled by this watershed moment in the history of London in a fun and enjoyable way.'

According to the creators the mini-games are a draw for historical figures including King Charles II, Thomas Farriner - whose bakery ignited the fire and the famous diarist Samuel Pepys, who documented the fire.

The museum's Great Fire 1666 exhibit, which is on display until April 2017, will feature the game.

Players will be able to download the new maps for PC and Mac starting on the 2nd of September.
