Han Solo Costumes - Halloween Costumes for the Smuggler
Han Solo has become one of Star Wars most recognisable characters. From the dusty Cantinas of Tatooine, to the Millennium Falcon and everything in between. The smuggler-turned-pilot made the Kessel Run in 12 parsecs, saved the galaxy from the Empire and fell for Princess Leia. His iconic swagger, and his scowl are what make him one of the greatest movie heroes.

The costume of Han Solo varies depending on the film. However, there are several ways you can dress up as him this Halloween. As Solo: A Star Wars Story hits theaters this year, now is the best time to channel the inner smuggler. You can join forces with Chewbacca Lando, and the crew of your friends to save the galaxy once more from the evil Empire.

As a smuggler, Han's outfit reflects his rough-around-the-edges character. Han's outfits may change from film to movie, but his expertise as a pilot and sense of humor remain the same.

Han's very first Star Wars costume consisted of a brown and tan flight jacket with a matching belt and boots. The outfit he wears when he meets Luke and Leia at the beginning of A New Hope. It was also worn by him when he fought Imperial forces on Cloud City as well as during the Battle of Endor.

Han wore an overcoat of dark green military clothing in The Empire Strikes Back. The jacket featured a single rear vent and long notch lapels. It had four gusseted pockets (two on his chest and two at his hips) as well as a large flapped pouch across the lower back.

Han chose to wear a black jacket that incorporated aspects of his wardrobes from A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. The vest that he wore for Return of the Jedi, was slightly shorter than the vest he had worn in A New Hope and was made of a lighter cotton. It had the four loops from A New Hope, but it was a different design. The vest did away with the poachers' pocket, replacing it with a lower back that was plain.

Star Wars Expanded Universe explained that the stripes were tuxedo strips or colored piping. Han was awarded them as a reward for his wartime service with the Republic against the Empire.
