Minecraft Education Edition Brings the Game and a Huge Variety of Learning Resources to The Classroom

Minecraft on Xbox. Minecraft in your hair. Minecraft in schools. It's everywhere, and that is the aim of Minecraft: Education Edition, a version of the world's most loved videogame specifically designed to be played in classrooms. It is for teaching children (and older) about everything from ancient history and carefully recreated settings to programming with Redstone.

Improve your home Minecraft experience by using these fantastic Minecraft mods.

It's an expansion and purchaseout by Microsoft of MinecraftEdu, which has been around since. They've even created a trailer explaining all the ways it can and has helped:

It's an excellent initiative. I would have slain millions of dollars to have something close to as engaging or videogame-like as Minecraft is used as a learning tool in schools, at any age. It would be wonderful to see the PCGN style manuals and policies documents could be taught with blocks instead of a bunch of terrible words. MINECRAFT As always, the most important thing is to get people excited about learning so that they are able to enjoy it and take it in.

There's a lengthy FAQ that gives additional details, including how much it will cost. It's currently $5 per user per year, which doesn't sound like much until you think about the size of a lot of schools, especially American ones and how extensive the applications of this could be. Although I wouldn't expect Microsoft to give it away at no cost since these students will be taking advantage of it in the classroom there will surely be many benefits.

It's not just schools who will have access, with libraries and museums able to buy copies of the material to use what they want to. There are plenty of custom-made resources available already and more are in the pipeline should they be successful. If things continue to go down this way 2 billion dollars appears like a lot of money.
