Essay question 2: First, New York has different climates because there is a distance from the equator that effects climate. The equator is an imaginary line that divides Earth into two parts-Northern Hemisphere and Southern Hemisphere. As you get closer to the equator, it gets hotter and hotter. The farther you get to the equator, the colder it gets.
Second, elevation effects climate because the higher a place is, the colder it gets. Adirondack Mountains has cooler summers and cooler winters which means it could be more than 325 centimeters of snow!
Third, big bodies of water such as the Great Lakes affect climates. Water changes more slowly than the temperature of the air. In the summer, lakes and oceans stay a little cooler than the air. Cold breezes blow off the water. This keeps land farther on the coast a little cooler than land farther inland during summer. In the winter, the water stays warmer than the air. Warm breezes keep coastal areas a little warmer.
In conclusion, New York has different climates in different places.
