Han Solo Costume - Dress Up Like the Smuggler This Halloween
From the dusty cantinas of Tatooine to the mighty Millennium Falcon, there's no denying that Han Solo is one of the most recognizable characters in Star Wars. The smuggler-turned-pilot made the Kessel Run in 12 parsecs, saved the galaxy from the Empire and fell for Princess Leia. With his iconic swagger and scowl, he's easily one of the most popular movie heroes of all time.

While the character's costume varies from film to film, there are many ways to dress up like Han Solo this Halloween. With the new Solo: A Star Wars Story hitting theaters in 2018, now is the perfect time to channel your inner smuggler and join forces with your pals Chewbacca, Lando Calrissian, and the rest of the crew to save the galaxy from the evil Empire once again.

Han Solo Costume
As a smuggler, Han's outfit reflects his rough-around-the-edges character. The outfits may have changed from film to film, but he always remains an expert pilot with a sly sense of humor and an eye for the deal.

Han's first Star Wars costume was a brown tan flight suit with a belt and matching boots. This was the outfit that he wore when he first meets Luke and Leia in A New Hope. He also wore it while fighting Imperial forces on Cloud City and as he entered the Battle of Endor.

In The Empire Strikes Back, Han wore a dark green military jacket over his flight suit. The jacket featured long notch lapels and a single rear vent. It also had four gusseted billows pockets (two on the chest and two on the hip) and a large flapped poacher's pocket across his lower back.

For his return to the big screen in Return of the Jedi, Han opted for a black vest that blended elements of his outfits from A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back. The vest he wore in Return of the Jedi was slightly shorter than his first vest and was made from a lighter weight cotton. It incorporated the same four loops on the back, although the tops of the loops didn't line up with a horizontal yoke as in A New Hope. The vest also discarded the poacher's pocket and replaced it with a plain lower back.

To finish off his outfit, Han wore a pair of dark blue pants with a yellow Corellian blood stripe down the side. The stripes resembled tuxedo striping or colored piping, but the Star Wars Expanded Universe explains that they were awarded to Han for his service in the Republic's war against the Empire.
