Veloren, the Open Source and free Multiplayer Voxel RPG has a Major Release Date

Want to try another quality free and open source game? Veloren is an RPG for multiplayer that is inspired by games such as Cube World, Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Dwarf Fortress and Minecraft. Veloren was developed in Rust, a fancy coding language. It has seen a huge growth in the past year and is slowly becoming what could be the next big FOSS game.



Some of the new features in this release includes:



New Skills for Climbing speed and climbing Cost Pickaxes (can be used to gather gems and mine weak rock) It is now possible to jump out of rolls to get a slight jump boost - Dungeons now have a variety of stairs. - Trades now display the prices of items in tooltips. - Attacks now emit sound effects from the target on hitting. Crafting menu tabs are now available - Auto camera setting making it easier to play with just one hand. Topographic map option Search bars for social and crafting window - Guards and villager now spawn using potions and know how to make use of them. Combat music for the dungeons when they are in the vicinity of enemies. - One handed weapons can now be used and found in the world - Players can now opt-in to server-authoritiative physics in gameplay settings. Sort inventory button Crafting stations in towns Translations that are missing can be displayed in English. - New large birds npcs - Daytime dependent wildlife spawns you can now block and parry with melee weapons - Lift is now calculated for gliders on the basis of dimensions (currently identical for all) - Specific music tracks are now available exclusively in towns. - You can now place custom map markers - Mountain peak markers and lake markers are now visible on the map. A minimap mode is now available that shows terrain within one chunk. Chat tabs - NPCs are now able to hear certain sounds



This is only a small part of the extensive and long changelog for the 0.10.0 version.



Download it from the Veloren site. You can download it in many ways, including a direct-download with an app which keeps it up-to-date, Flatpak, Snap, and many other options. Risks If you do decide to download it today, there's a release party on the official server, seems like it could be an enjoyable experience and the download is small , so it won't occupy much space.
