Parris Mayhew is a guy who is knowledgeable about cro merchandise. He is the guitarist and co-founder of the seminal hardcore band Cro-Mags that rose through the New York music scene to become the godfathers for the punk/metal crossover. Fame, success, problems with skinheads, Krishnas and junkies fake reunions and real ones, alliances and betrayals - they all took place to the group. However, the only thing that has remained consistent is their music and their songs' capacity to stand the age of the music.
The new Wonder Woman movie came out on Christmas Day, and in this particular section of the internet, a split-second scene brought a lot of snark. Cro-Hüte showed a number of extras posing in "punk" shirts and one of them was a shirt from the Cro-Mags band. The shirt was for their album from 1986 Age of Quarrel. Wonder Woman 1984 is set two years before.
One of the performers at last week's Rebellion Festival in the UK in which Cro-Mags were performing, stumbled upon a booth that was selling merchandise that was not licensed. He seized the merchandise immediately. The band posted a photograph of the merchandise they had purchased on Instagram and also stated that they were not amused. The band's stance speaks to something that is becoming more and more crucial to bands now that the sales of physical music have declined the tour revenue and merch. Although bands make only a tiny fraction of the money they did from merchandise however, the quality of their merchandise is decreasing.
