I've lied...
To a friend.
When I was 7. And I remember vividly because I "helped" him with homework.
The Homework? Finding some proverbs and interpret it's meaning? I don't know okay, I was 7.
What I do know is that this proverb came to mind: "The one who says Hello, is the one who says goodbye".
Now what the hell is this proverb you're asking yourself, as I'm sure my friend did back then.
Well... it's just a chinese proverb
Or at least that's how I sold it as being true, it was the 2000's, no wikipedia, no google, enciclopedias expensive.
It's just this ludicrous little episode that I remember and that stucked with me.
Do you want to know what the professor said? Stick till the end of the video for this incredible *cut cut cut what is this krabbysheet? Literally the first video and we're already baiting the audience?*
Yeah... the professor didn't fact check, the argument "it's a chinese proverb" was more than enough to convince her.
But I kept thinking and thinking and somehow ended up overanalyzing it, and here we are.
So once more the proverb is: The one who says hello, is the one who says goodbye.

The one who says hello is Person A
The one who says goodbye is also Person A

1) So we could interpret as that PA who takes the initiative to start a conversation or a relationship, may also be the one who takes the initiative to end it.
That same person who initiates an interaction has a certain level of control or agency in the relationship, and may be more likely to take action to bring it to a close when necessary.
In this argument theoretically we could say that the way in which a conversation or relationship begins is indicative of how it will end, and that the person who takes the initiative has a greater influence on its outcome.

This ends up giving in a sense of power. The power to decide and desire, or the need to be in control of the situation.

2) We could say that someone has to be commited to say hello in the first place, and that is often associated with the one who is more invested in the relationship or interaction.
This may set the tone for the relationship that follows.
Taking the initiative to start a conversation or to introduce themselves may be due to desirse for connection, engagement, or desiarability perhaps being more likely to stay engaged in the relationship over time.

I'll be honest, I wasn't expecting to find this meta-analisis so philosophical. Should I start by saying Hello in order to take control of WORLD!!!???
Nah, but it makes me wonder how many times did I initiate a conversation and then ended it in my own terms...

3) We can use it as a cautionary reminder to be mindful of the way we begin and end interactions with others. The way in which we initiate or conclude conversations can have a lasting impact on how the other person perceives us and remembers the interaction.

Another interpretation is that the phrase highlights the importance of being present and engaged in our interactions with others. By taking the initiative to say hello and start a conversation, we are signaling our willingness to be present and engaged in the moment. Similarly, by being the one to say goodbye, we are taking responsibility for our presence in the interaction and signaling our intention to move on to other things.
