King Krule Retail Merchandise with Babylon LA
With his new album, The Ooz, out last month, and a concert scheduled to start soon, South London's Archy Marshall, better known as King Krule, has been very busy over the last few months. King Krule is busy lately. He's been scouring LA for chameleons that live in real life to appear in his brand new black and white video for "Half Man Half Shark" as well as working with Stereolab drummer Andy Ramsay on his next album.

The tiniest collection seems to perfectly complement the music of Krule. "I have always thought I've kind of had a simpler way of creating merchandise," he says. "I do not like having too many shades."



Marshall was born in South London with his mother who was a professional screen printer, and who encouraged her son to record music in the basement of their house. The singer/songwriter started making music under the name Zoo Kid. He released several EPs, before adopting the King Krule name in 2013, with the critically-acclaimed debut album 6 Feet Beneath the Moon. His two subsequent albums, The Ooz (in 2017) and Man Alive! which will be released in February 2020 show his genre-bending approach that blends elements of jazz, darkwave trip hop, post-punk and trip hop.


After a year-long break between releases Marshall's 4th full-length release under the King Krule alias arrived this month with Space Heavy, which he wrote from 2020 to 2022, between London and Minneapolis The album was reportedly written as the means of calming his inner storminess. This is a great lengthy-player, with his trademark musical aplomb and compositional talents with a savagely corrosive song and some sly observations. Marshall, as he stated in "Cementality," off The Ooz The Ooz, utilized music to help him cope with his mental illness.
