Ghost Spider Costume from Into the Spiderverse
One of the most attractive features of Spider-Gwen (as she's known in her own universe) is her instantly recognizable costume. The stark contrasts of black, white, and purple, paired with neon blue shout from comic book covers and leap out of the screen in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse The design has even inspired a number of different cosplay looks. What makes a costume so instantly memorable? Jason Latour, a writer and artist, recently talked about the making of Gwen's iconic costume on Twitter.





Gwendolyne Stacy is an alternate universe superhero who lives on Earth-65. Her first appearance was in the 2014 Edge of Spider-Verse storyline and then became the main character in her own series, which started in 2015, alongside the hero's other main aliases, including Spider-Woman and Ghost Spider. The character was developed by author Jason Latour and artist Robbi Rodriguez, as well as colorist Rico Renzi. Latour explained that there were three major aspects to consider for his team when they created Gwen's costume. it had to represent their unique multiversal interpretation of a familiar character and it had to appear "bright and distinctive" that anyone could see themselves in the mask and it needed to be something that Rodriguez would enjoy drawing and illustrating over and over.





When she reveals her Spider-Gwen identity to her love interest, Peter Parker, in the Spider-Verse storyline, Gwen learns that her counterparts across the multiverse are battling the Inheritors. The dimensional teleportation device she uses is damaged in the battle, and she is believed to be lost. In her journey to the opposite side of the battle she encounters Miles Morales, her counterpart from Earth-616, and informs him that a majority of her friends Spider-Women are dead. The name Ghost-Spider has been coined by her fans following the encounter because she is often seen as wraith-like in her adventures in reality.
