Foo Fighters Merch Pop Up in London
Foo Fighters drummer Dave Grohl does not have a problem with daring stunts to promote his group. He's thrown down parades, donned a giant Game of Thrones-inspired costume and even taken over MTV programming for 24-hours. The most original work he's had to date may have been when he set up an merch shop in an establishment in London with his band.



The pop-up, dubbed the Foo Fighters Arms and was open to all who wanted to visit. It was equipped with everything from Foo Fighters-themed teapots (a whole set will cost around $337) to beer mugs, and even a Foo Fighters van-shaped lockbox. The merchandise was sold obviously, and profits would be donated to Music Support and MusiCares. Music Support provides assistance to people working in the entertainment industry who suffer from addiction or mental illness, while MusiCares provides financial and other assistance to members of the entertainment industry who are suffering from addiction disorders.

A handful of staff members were working in the shop, assisting customers as well as manning a counter. One worker told me that he'd seen many people coming in and out the past few days but it wasn't a madhouse like when they did similar things at their sold out shows during the Sonic Highways tour.


The shop also sold other Foo Fighters merchandise that were featured on the tour. This included a limited edition Roswell design tee to commemorate the band’s February 23 show at the Jambalaya Club, California, and their June 3 London, Kings College, London performance. The profits of the t-shirt will be donated to the National Independent Venue Association in the US and also to the UK initiative #SaveOurVenues.


Besides selling the merchandise, they also utilized the pop-up as a way to announce their forthcoming show at Wembley Stadium in London as part of the Taylor Hawkins Tribute Concerts. The concert will also be attended by the family and friends of the late Nirvana singer and other musicians.


The Foo Fighters will return to Canada in July to perform their headline performance at Festival d'ete de Quebec, together with Green Day and Weezer among other performers. On September 3, they'll be playing a sold out homecoming concert at the Honda Center, Anaheim. Check out the dates of their shows on their official website.
