Adversity because Jade goes through many moments where she feels like she doesn't belong and feels forced into things she doesn't feel comfortable doing. She has moments where she feels like no one understands her, an example of this would be when Sam didn't feel sympathy for her when a sales clerk treated her wrong. She also feels neglected by her mentor Maxine and feels that she is not helping her at all, she constantly feels like quitting but her mom wants her to continue. After all, this program is giving her a scholarship to go to school. Overcoming adversity helps Jade become more confident in herself and her capabilities and it also helps her continue towards her dream. This is because she is being put down a lot, even by people she cares about but she also has people in her life that push her to keep going and overcome the struggles, like her mom.
