Run the Jewels released RTJ4 the fourth studio album, earlier this month. It examines a wide range of issues, however one section stands out: "The only thing I fear is that we will wake up and there'll be an encore of George Floyd and Eric Garner and I'm not going to say we didn't do our bit."
Run The Jewels Bags And Accessories was broken just a day after the charge of second-degree murder against an officer who killed George Floyd. The record was also dropped just days before Michael Santiago Render (better known as Killer Mike) appeared on TV in Minneapolis to advise protesters not to go on a riot. It's no coincidence that the timing coincided. RTJ4 is an album that's visceral that is ablaze with energy and anger. The world feels in flames and fortunately, Run the Jewels are here to soundtrack it and guide us through the other side.
The duo announced a concert tour but the first leg has been postponed due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. The duo have come up with a line of t-shirts designed to collect money and promote hand washing.
