Electrospinning is a process that can produce nanofibers from polymer solutions. In this process, an electric field is applied to a solution and the solvent evaporates from the tip of the needle. This causes the polymer solution to be ejected from the needle in a very fine stream, forming nanometer-sized fibers that solidify upon contact with air or other surfaces such as a collector screen. Electrospinning has many applications such as wound dressing material, tissue engineering scaffolds for growing heart valves, etc.
An electrospinning machine is a device that uses electric fields to draw polymer solutions into fibers. The process works by creating a strong electric field between two plates. One of which is charged while the other has a surface with many small holes in it. When you apply voltage to these plates, this creates an electric field that pulls on your solution and pulls it through those holes onto your collection plate.
