Sejarah Ramalan Dacryomancy.

Di babylon kuno, hari ke-5 pada festival tahun baru (Akitu, festival terpenting di assyrio-babylonian, dirayakan pada musim semi selama sebelas hari pertama di bulan Nisan ), raja babylonian menjadi target/sasaran hinaan. Lalu imam(pendeta) tertinggi memindahkan kerajaannya (insignian) dan menempatkannya di ‘Marduk’. Pendeta tersbt lalu menimpa sang raja di wajahnya dan menarik telinganya. Raja pun berlutut dihadapan pendeta namun pendeta masih memukulinya. Pemukulan itu dianggap sebagai pertanda baik untuk masa depan jika ini membawa air mata ke kerajaan.
