Jamur adalah makhluk hidup eukariota yang multiseluler dan bersifat heterotrof dengan cara menyerap zat organik dari lingkungan.
Jamur bersifat saprofit dan dapat melakukan simbiosis mutualisme dengan bintil tanaman kacang-kacangan sebagai mikoriza dan dengan alga membentuk lumut kerak.
#Ciri-ciri jamur antara lain :
1. Organisme eukariota yang menghasilkan spora
2. Dinding sel tidak mengandung selulosa
3. Memiliki hifa dan miselium
4. Tidak berklorofil
#Klasifikasi Jamur
1. Zygomycota
*Ciri-ciri :
- Spora seksual : zigospora
- Miselium bercabang
- Hifa bersifat senositik
- Reproduksi aseksual : spora nonmotil
- Reproduksi seksual : konjugasi
*Contoh Zygomycota : Rhizopus stolonifer dan Mucor javanicus
* Peranan : Berperan dalam pembuatan tempe dan ragi tape
2. Ascomycota
*Ciri-ciri :
- Spora seksual : askospora
- Miselium bersekat
- Hidup sebagai saproba dan ada juga yang sebagai parasit
- Reproduksi aseksual : spora konidium
- Reproduksi seksual : membentuk askospora dalam askus
*Dibedakan dalam tiga kelas :
a. Hemiascomycotes
- Saccharomyces cerevisiae : pembuatan roti dan alkohol
- Saccharomyces tuac : mengubah air nira menjadi tuak
- Saccharomyces ellipsoideus : fermentasi buah anggur
- Candida albicans : penyebab sariawan, penyakit mulut, dan keputihan
b. Plectomycetes
- Aspergillus oryzae : pembuatan minuman beralkohol
- Aspergillus sojae : pembuatan kecap
- Penicillium notatum : zat antibiotik
c. Pyronemycetes
Neurospora sitophila : pembuatan oncom merah
3. Basidiomycota
*Ciri-ciri :
- Hifa bersepta
- Spora seksual : basidiospora
- Berdaging
- Bersifat saproba
- Seperti payung
*Contoh :
- Lentinus edodes dan shitake : untuk dikonsumsi
4. Deuteromycota
- Jamur tidak sempurna
- Belum diketahui reproduksi seksual selama sikls hidupnya
- Reproduksi aseksual : menghasilkan konidia (diofor)
*Contoh :
Tinea versicolor : penyebab panu
