The Martian Chronicles

The Martian Chronicles Book Entry #1

I chose this book because it has to do with colonizing Mars and nuclear war. I liked this book because it inspires me to work with NASA and to have an impact on the world. Also, I hope to try to prevent nuclear war in the future. I will stick with this book as I have finished it, if I hadn’t finished it by now I still would continue reading it as it is a good book about topics I like. I enjoy reading the book.

The Martian Chronicles Book Entry #2

The Martian Chronicles takes place on (obviously) Mars from January 2030 to October 2057 in the 1997 reprint version which advanced the years so it would seem more futuristic, I think the setting will change the plot in the way of something very bad happening on earth and therefore something bad happening on mars as well. The background details are that three expeditions to Mars end up with the crew members being killed while the fourth one succeeds in eventually making a colony on Mars.

The Martian Chronicles Book Entry #3

I don’t really have a favorite place to read. I can read about anywhere if I like a book. I am not easily distracted if I enjoy a book, but if I don’t enjoy a book I get distracted super easy. I get totally engrossed in a book if I like it but if I don’t like it I think about other things and I am super aware of things around me but not on the book. I can read an entire book (or more) in one sitting if I like the book. If I don’t like the book, I want to stop as soon as possible.

The Martian Chronicles Book Entry #4
I liked the Martian chronicles because it had to do with colonizing Mars.In real life I really like colonizing Mars, and I think we should do it as fast as we can. The Martian chronicles was written in the 1950s and takes place from January 1999 to 2026. The book starts out with the first expedition rocket taking off from earth. They die by Martians. The second expedition takes off and when they get there they are told to give a paper to Martian after Martian until they meet a scientist who deems them crazy and puts them in the basement they escape and they tell him to stop and he says that their hallucinations are very realistic and shoots them. Then he thinks that he became crazy and kills himself. This was a very good book by Ray Bradbury and it helped my interest in rocket science. I will continue reading it and so far it is a really good book.

The Martian Chronicles Book Entry #5

The Martian Chronicles was a good book and had many characters, some good and some bad; as in good or mean, or well thought out or not. My favorite character is Captain Wilde as he is not one of the colonists. He is a mix of Spender and the other people of his expedition, Wilde cares about the martians but isn’t as much of an extremist as Spender. My least favorite character is Samuel Teecee as he is a slave owner and is racist towards blacks. He is also mean and is a very big jerk.

The Martian Chronicles Book Entry #6

“We earth men have a talent for ruining big, beautiful things.” I agree with this statement as in our history on this planet we have seriously messed it up with things such as carbon fuel emissions, pollution and nuclear disasters. Carbon fuel emissions have resulted in global warming which causes in extreme weather such as flooding, extremely strong tornadoes and hurricanes. Pollution is also making our planet warmer with the greenhouse effect, and are also killing fish and other types of animals. Nuclear disasters such as Hiroshima and Nagasaki killed 300 thousand people and caused birth defects. It also permanently changed the landscape.

The Martian Chronicles Book Entry #7

Captain Wilder reminds me of Captain Kirk from Star Trek because they are both starship captains. They both care about their crew and loved ones, but aren’t ones to party. They also both won’t take unnecessary risks but they still both take risks, but are not foolish.

The Martian Chronicles Book Entry #8

In the story where the family is dead, but the robots make us know a lot about them. We hear the schedule of what they do everyday, and that is kinda what someone could learn about me by being in my google account, seeing what I write and how my writing has grown throughout the years or being on my Steam and seeing what games I like and played.

The Martian Chronicles Book Entry #9

The main character is Captain Wilde, he is very caring but also bold and cautious, he cares about his crew and friends and Earth and the martian culture, I think the best gift he could want is to go and see his family again, because he would miss them. He wouldn’t visit a store, he would visit his parent’s house. Maybe he would like Martian food or spicy food.

The Martian Chronicles Book Entry #10

I think Ray Bradbury really makes us connect to the characters be it Spender or Wilder or others. He describes the characters and mood in a lot of depth albeit at times tedious. The pace of his stories can be slow at times but is really worth it. I chose this quote: “I'm numb and I'm tired. Too much has happened today. I feel as if I'd been out in a pounding rain for forty-eight hours without an umbrella or a coat. I'm soaked to the skin with emotion.” as it really shows how he describes the mood and feeling in his books.

The Martian Chronicles Book Entry #11
This book is called The Martian Chronicles and was written by Ray Bradbury, In this book Astronauts from earth go to Mars and after three failed attempts at surviving mars, the fourth expedition finally succeeded to colonize Mars after being aided by the martians dying of the Common Cold ala Native American style, but is their colonization necessarily a good thing? You will The book takes place from 2030 to 2057, with characters such as Parkhill and Captain Wilde. I personally recommend this book to anyone who likes colonization, space and post apocalyptic books.
