Sejarah:
'Stupefy' berasal dari kata kerja – Bahasa Latin “stupere” yang berarti “menjadi terkejut”.
Mantra ini juga dikenal sebagai mantra stunner, fungsinya sama seperti mengejutkan lawan. Tidak hanya pada orang, mantra Stupefy juga dapat digunakan pada benda mati yang bergerak.
Belum diketahui pasti siapa pembuat mantra ini, namun mantra ini sangat ampuh jika digunakan dalam duel.
Kemenangan (biasanya) akan ada di tangan perapal.

Keunggulan: Saat perapal mengucapkan mantra ini, dijamin, korban langsung tersentak.
Kekurangan:
Stupefy pelafalan 'STEW-puh-fye’. Gerakan tongkatnya sederhana, hanya berupa gerakan vertikal. bercahaya merah dan efeknya adalah untuk membius target atau menghentikan gerakan benda mati.
Spell ini umum sekali digunakan dalam duel, krn jika target kena mantra ini otomatis kemenangan berada di tangan. Efek mantra ini bisa diatasi dengan 'rennervate’ dan sebenarnya spt halnya obat bius muggle, efek akan menghilang seiring waktu.
semakin banyak target terkena mantra bius, maka efeknya akan semakin kuat. jika target yg kena 2-3 mantra stupefy sekaligus maka durasi pingsannya pun akan lebih lama dibandingkan dgn yg cuma kena 1 mantra stupefy.
Karena itu dalam duel, mantra ini boleh digunakan setelah 2 turn.
Bahayanya, jika mantra ini diaplikasikan pada muggle dengan kekuatan penuh maka muggle tersebut bisa cacat.
