SQ3R

SQ3R is a study method or strategy that helps improve the reading comprehension of students. SQ3R has a meaning to it, for short an acronym of five steps which are:
-Survey
-Question
-Read
-Recite
-Review
And this method was developed by Francis P. Robinson and hes a pioneer in literacy theory in 1941.
Here are some reasons why the SQ3R study method is very effective:
-University students using the SQ3R strategy retain more information on exams.
-Students develop better organizational skills, association, and critical thinking by using SQ3R.
-The first two steps of SQ3R, surveying, and questioning, help students create a foundation of knowledge before moving on to comprehension.
-SQ3R forces students to use the brain’s information-processing systems more productively.

Now lets discuss about the five steps to using SQ3R method:

1. Survey
- Surveying is very important because there are many benefits when it comes to surveying, as it prepares the brains processing system for whats coming.

2. Question
- Questioning is also how we begin to understand things, and this is done so that you have a clear purpose for the reading stage and so we can know what kind of information you should be focusing on.

3. Read
- Reading is the most important step among all the 5 steps for this will help executing the 1st and 2nd step, in this 3rd step you start reading the text while answering both chapter and questions and your own questions that was creating at the 2nd step.

4. Recite
- This 4th step is the most longest step, and it includes inputting all the information you have processed until now and begin to put it in your own words. and for the reason why this is step is the longest is because you must not skip this step and you must take your time as you do this step for it can ruin the effectiveness of the SQ3R Method.

5. Review
- This is the last step of the SQ3R Method which reviews all the information, and it includes double checking all the same headings you discovered in the 1st step and after this you have to summarize all of the information into answers into your own words. And this step would also help you memorize all the information that you have collected.
