" TECTONIC PLATES "

Up here everything seems pretty cool and stable, but miles below our feet. it's a raging inferno. The deeper you go the hotter it gets ( ang sabi rito ay habang pababa ka ng pababa o pailalim ka ng pailalim ay painit ng painit ) Why?
We all know that the Earth has layers.
( alam nating lahat na may layers ang Earth 'di ba? )
The first layer is the crust or the " Earth's Crust "
Below the Earth's crust we can see here the upper layer of the Earth's mantle.
There are two distincts regions called the LITHOSPHERE and ASTHENOSPHERE
( bago ang mantle ay mayroon pang dalawang rehiyon at ito ang LITHOSPHERE AT ASTHENOSPHERE )
The LITHOSPHERE is the solid outer part of our planet, it is composed of the rigid upper mantle as well as the crust. Which is the outer most layer of the Earth (Ang LITHOSPHERE ay ang solid o matibay na panlabas na bahagi ng ating planeta, o yung lupa na siyang inaapakan natin )
There are two types of lithosphere the continental and oceanic lithosphere
The continental crust is the most outer layer of the Earth's lithosphere.
Oceanic crust is denser, can be subducted and is constantly being destroyed and replaced at plate boundaries.
The Continental crust is typically 30-50 km thick, whilst oceanic crust is only 5-10 km thick.

The ASTHENOSPHERE is the denser, weaker and semi-molten region beneath the lithosphere mantle. ( ito raw ay mas siksik, mas mahina at tunaw na rehiyon sa ilalim ng lithosphere mantle )
This region is where rocks soften and partly melt, giving this area a thick sticky consistency ( ang rehiyong ito ay kung saan lumalambot at bahagyang natutunaw ang mga bato, dahilan ng pagiging malagkit nito )
