The Whale Movie Review movie is not with out
After racking up standing ovations at Venice and Toronto, Darren Aronofsky’s drama The Whale is lastly set to hit theaters on Dec. 9, and it already appears poised for a robust awards run. The film stars Brendan Fraser as Charlie, a reclusive English teacher who’s dwelling out the last days of his life and searching for redemption. The new trailer launched by A24 provides a peek at the somber drama, whose cast also consists of Sadie Sink and Hong Chau.

The movie is not with out its challenges, and Fraser’s weight has been a significant level of controversy. But he delivers an excellent performance and it’s inconceivable to not root for him. His character is a man who’s lost every little thing that was important in his life, and the finest way the movie explores the deep wells of compassion in him is a exceptional achievement.

In addition to Fraser, the ensemble solid is prime notch, and Sink in particular delivers an incredible performance because the daughter who’s looking for meaning in her own life. Rob Simonsen’s melancholic music and Matthew Libatique’s cinematography add to the film’s somber temper, and the manufacturing design can also be spectacular.

While The Whale doesn’t cover any fresh ground with its framing of fatness, it does supply some moments of darkish humor and a poignant scene involving Charlie’s caretaker Liz. But those usually are not enough to offset the film’s bleak overarching tone. The movie is still worth seeing for its powerful performances, but a bit extra stability would have made it even more effective..
