These are just a few highlights from my poker journal. Those don't say "poker", but for me they are vital to continued poker success. Because many of my journal entries became full articles on the topic, they form the basis for chapters within this book.

Poker is a gambling game of strategy. You must be aware of your opponents. In this sense, it is similar to chess. visit here require you to assume the role as an actor. You have to fool your opponents into a sense of false security. Make them feel like they are in charge of the game even while you hold the royal flush. The winning factor in a poker game? Learn how to bluff. This is a technique that professional gamers use most of the times to confuse their opponents. However, it is fatal for beginners who often fall for this tactic.

If you decide you aren't going to ALWAYS fold some particular hand then you better have a fantastic reason why, and you better be able to create a strategy for playing that hand in about 15 different scenarios. Otherwise, just convince yourself that you will always fold it for the next couple months - while you're becoming a winning player. You can then add it back to your starting hands with purposeful action and a plan for the hand.

You should always consider your bankroll before you decide to sit in a game. There will be many different ways of looking at this. You need to find what works for you. I don't believe you can buy-in for a live match with less than 100BB (big-blinds). Some are more comfortable with 50BB, and yet others say you need to come in with more. This buy-in should not be more than 10% of your bankroll. Online games can have very low limits. I think you should lower this buy-in limit even further.

Ungar's self belief was unsurpassed, and while some might have been intimidated to play Brunson, many were not. Ungar made a call with his gutshot, and Doyle flopped two pair of A-7 with A-7-2 rainbow flop.
