ㅎ+ㅏ+ㄴ=한 ㄱ+ㅡ+ㄹ=글 한+글=한근. Hangul. It consists of han(한) and gul(글).

[ ㅎ ] it has a couple variations, generally, its like an "h" sound. if its at the beginning of a word, it will sound like an "h". there will be more of this one in lesson two.

[ ㅏ ] this is a vowel, and its an "a" sound as in father. it pretty much never varies and always has the same sound. quite a simple character. this vowel will always be placed to the right of the first consonant. it does not fall below the consonant.
