How Do Led Flashlights Work?
The term LED is the abbreviation for light emitting diode. This device uses electrical energy to create light. LED technology is not new. However, LED in light bulbs is relatively new.

led night light How do you know what bulb shape you have? The letters used aren't really abbreviations. Examples of bulb shapes: BT15, BR40, PAR38, T4, G25, A19 and so on. A19 is your common incandescent light bulb often used in table lamps. F, B & BA Shapes are used generally in chandeliers and sconces. BR, ER, PAR, R and others are used in recessed lighting and some outdoor lighting. G are globe light bulbs commonly used in vanity lighting. This is not all the shapes but you get the idea.

Yellow bug light bulbs are indeed effective in keeping away flying insects, but only because they are incapable of seeing the light emitted by the yellow bulbs as well as they see light emitted by white or clear bulbs, according to Westinghouse Lighting Corporation.

The coating comprises sulfate precipitated silica, aluminum silicate pigment, zirconium praseodymium yellow zircon and nickel titanium yellow rutile and has color coordinates of x=0.5341 to 0.5406 and y=0.4400 to 0.4378." With a description like this, it sounds like the bulb could at least make a bug feel sick if not outright kill it. And what makes this bulb more environmentally friendly than another bug bulb? Maybe it's just because it is a CFL or LED and uses less energy.
These lights still required the annual maintenance and relatively frequent change outs. In addition, color fading remained a primary problem. In one year, the blue set would often become a clear set due to sun fading. According to eLightBulbs customers, there is a higher percentage chance that the customer will just buy and throw strings away in commercial applications than perform time consuming maintenance.
