A YOUNG PERSON LIVING IN AN ANCIENT CIVILISATION OUTSIDE OF IRELAND
I am a young person living in Ancient Rome.
My Father is a general in the Roman Army.
The important buildings in Rome are located in the Forum.
They include the Courts, Temples & Government Buildings.
I live in a private house called a Domus.
Centre room in the Domus is called the Atrium, which has a pool.
Also an enclosed garden called the Peristylium.
Many rooms have Mosaics (designs with tiles) on the floor.
Near us are Insulae (apartment blocks rented to poorer Romans)
We own a Villa in the countryside where we go during the year.
My Father is the head of the family, I must obey him.
I attended Primary School where I learned to read and write with wax tablets.
In Secondary School, I am learning history and geometry.
My sister ended her education after Primary School, staying at home for marriage.
I wear a tunic but my Farther wears a toga his tunic and my Mother wears a Stola.
The main meal called the Cena is in the evening.
We have slaves who were captured in wars and work as house servants.
I go to public baths, there are three different baths - the cold, the hot and the warm.
I also go to Chariot Races held at the Circus Maxiumus and Gladiator Contests heled at the Colosseum.
