That's what they call me.
Do they really think I can't hear them? That I am ignorant to their hurtful words, expressed as if they weren't tearing my heart apart inside every syllable uttered. Or do they simply not care?
I've never asked, but it doesn't really matter. It's all the same to me. Now matter how or why they say these things it still HURTS.
At first I don't think I really understood. I tried to ignore the whispered comments and spiteful jabs at my self-esteem, but it's tiring. Hearing the same thing over the years leaves a lasting effect. It's hard to let go or brush off.
Through all of this though, sometimes you don't know yourself as you think. It may even be you don't know yourself at all.
I never saw it coming.
Honestly it was more of a shock to myself then those around me.
I'd reached my limit. The delicate shell I'd built up over the years by cementing fake smiles and blase imitations of cheerful laughter cracked. A rift braking apart the fragile walls and revealing the negative emotions no one ever thought I was capable of.
In short I'd lost an uphill battle with control. "
