Notes

I was on the 15th floor and I was in the kitchen pouring some champagne in anticipation of the fireweorks which is what I was expecting to see. my father went out on the balcony and essentially powered back in to the room screamin gthat hotel was on fire. which we all thoguht was a joke, but then I went ou on the balcony and saw that the room next door to us was completely on flames, on fire. Got to the fire escape before the fire alarm had gone off at which point there were already people runnin ginto the corridors and panicking essentially. Iended up having to put somebody on my nback who was in a wheel chair and carry them down to the ground floor. It was basically absolute pandemonium and at the moment there's still peopel standing around on the pavement at the bottom of the hotel not sure of what to do. There's still a state of pandemonium.

There were five of us, me my mother, my father, my gf, and my sis in law.

The lifts are out of action. we did see people coming down later in wheelchairs so I preusm there was some sort of measure involved. Unfortunately my mother because it was quite early stages, I basically just strapped her to my back and took her down the stairs. It was the only of getting her out of the building unfortunately.

I didn't see a single sprinkler. It was slightly worrying that the alarm went off essentially when the building was properly on fire. It does feel like a delayed reaction. It def wasn't the most, it didn't seem partic fluid the evacuation process. That was just from a first time experience, right from the beginning, maybe it improved along the time.

It was the classic thing where you'd expect people to let women and chicldren first but no it was pretty much people shoving each other down the stairs and climbing over each other, so it definitely wasn't women and children first

To be fair, there were a lot of hotel staff directing people to various exits and stuff, but there was no clarity about what happened. There was no idea of how this fire started, or whetehr it was accident or whether it was arson. Quite frankly we were in the hotel and we had no idea where to go and we have no idea what happened so definitely still in a state of alarm I'd say.

I saw a lot of fire fighters, not sure what they were doing, I'm sure they've done a good job because the fire has pretty much gone out from where I'm standing.

It's not quite the fireworks show I expected to see

I've left pretty much everything in the flat. Obvi I only took valuable, i.e. my phone, ipad and my mother.
