2. Bowers & Wilkins PX7 S2

Since the release of the first-generation PX7 in 2015, Bowers & Wilkins' flagship headphones have frequently featured on top lists of wireless headsets, putting them firmly in the same bracket with the likes of Sony WH-1000XM5 as well as Bose QuietComfort. In our tests, the PX7 S2 eliminated nearly all of our simulated aircraft cabin noise with impressive efficiency, and they excelled when we performed Mozart's Et In Carnatus Est and Sanctus from his Grosse Messe, demonstrating excellent understanding of the changing dynamics between the solo voice, the wind trio and orchestral accompaniment.

The PX7 S2s aren't just noise-cancelling, they also include a variety of features that make them highly competitive with other top-rated headphones. Of course, they're not perfect. The clamp force on our test models was a little less than we'd like, and there aren't as many extra features in the app as other options, but they aren't major complaints. The PX7 S2s are a superb wireless headphone that competes with the best in their class, and it's difficult to imagine them being defeated by any other headphone.

For audiophiles who prize high fidelity and are looking for a top-quality wireless noise cancelling headset The Focal Bathys are hard to beat. The Focal Bathys are the very first ANC headphones from an French audio company to use Bluetooth. They provide incredible sound both in Bluetooth mode and when connected via USB to a device for true hi-fi listening at up to 24bit/192kHz.

The Bathys look gorgeous with their black glossy finish and swooping curves similar to Focal's premium open-back Elear and closed-back Celestee headphones. The Bathys are made from premium materials like magnesium and aluminum, which make them feel durable, comfortable, and well worth the price.

The Bathys Bluetooth headphones offer an impressive, clear sound quality. They easily outperform consumer ANC devices with similar prices like the Sony XM5/5 and Bose QC45. Direct DAC audio mode lets them be pushed further, making them a great option for those who love hifi.

The Focal &Naim app allows users to adjust the headphone's playback controls as well as Bluetooth pairing preferences. You can select between soft or silent intensities for ANC as well as alter the brightness of LEDs on the ear cups, and adjust the EQ settings. The app is fairly bare-bones but has enough features to warrant its purchase.

The most notable flaw is that the active noise cancellation doesn't match the quality of the competitors. The Sony WH-CH720N headphones are an excellent pair of wireless headphones that are worth the price. The noise-cancelling technology is excellent and helps to cut down on ambient noise. They are great for commuters and travelers. They also offer a nice high-end look with their durable construction and attractive matte finish.

They are similar to Sony's XB910N and 1000X headphone models. They have a slim headband with the typical ear cup hinges, and a durable plastic build. They're light and comfortable to wear, however they feel a little too compressed for my taste. They come with a USB-C charge port, 3.5mm jack and a decent-length cable in the box. They are multipoint Bluetooth which means you can connect to two devices simultaneously should you wish to.

In my tests, the CH720N's hybrid technology for noise cancellation did a great job of reducing ambient noise. There were only a few blips when walking through Waterloo Station and London Victoria. They weren't sound-silencers that zapped every single nearby sound however, they struggled with lower-frequency noises like the rumbling engine sounds of buses and trains.

The streaming of music via the CH720N's Bluetooth connection was smooth, and it exhibited a low level of harmonic distortion. I tested a variety of genres and discovered that they handled the intricate interplay between instruments very well. It did a great job of taming bass in rock tracks, and keeping the mix focused.

I like the fact that you can adjust the Sony Headphones Connect app to customize the CH720N's ANC and multipoint connectivity settings to your liking and also add a range of audio presets. You can also utilize the app to activate DSEE, which upsacles compressed content and improves its sound quality.

The WH-CH720N offers a great value for PS130. It's not equipped with many of Sony's top features (such as Speak-to-Chat and Fast Attention) however it comes with many excellent features. You get access to 360 Reality Audio and a variety of smart controls in addition to the DSEE upscaling feature. The only thing not included is LDAC Bluetooth High-Res Audio Support I think it would have been a welcomed inclusion.
