Minecraft is a sandbox-style video game that was developed by Swedish game artist Markus "Notch" Persson, and later developed and released by Mojang. The building and creative aspects of Minecraft enable players to develop constructions out of cubes with textures in a procedurally created world. Other games in the game include exploration, resource collection crafting, fighting, and exploration. There are many game modes available. The PC version of the game is notable for its modding scene. This allows a dedicated community to create new gameplay mechanics, resources, and other items for the game. Minecraft was highly praised by critics when it was released and has been awarded numerous awards and praises. More than 106 million copies the game have been sold across all platforms. In September 2014, Microsoft announced a package to purchase Mojang and the Minecraft intellectual property for US$2.5 billion and the deal was completed two months later.



Minecraft is a 3-D sandbox game. There are no goals for the ball player. However there is a successful system. The default game mode is first person. However players can opt to play in third-person mode. The core gameplay revolves around breaking and inserting blocks. The game's fundamental gameplay is made up of 3D objects, most notably cubes, which are placed in a grid pattern. They represent various materials like stone, dirt and lava. Players are free to move around the world but objects must be placed at certain places on the grid. These materials can be collected by players and put in different places to allow for various constructions. The world is divided into biomes, that range from deserts to snowfields to forests. The terrain includes plains, mountains , forests caves, as as water bodies. The game's time is a night and day cycle that has a full pattern lasting 20 real-time hours. Through the course of the game, players must face different non-players known as mobs. These include villagers, animals and other hostile creatures. Non-hostile animals, such as cows, chickens, pigs, and pigs can be hunted for food or crafting materials and then spawn during the daytime. In comparison, hostile mobs--such as large spiders, skeletons and zombies--spawn during nighttime or in dark places, such as caves.
