In a move that is pure absurdity, Turkey wants to ban Minecraft because its Family and Social Policies Ministry has deemed it to be too violent for children. minecraft server Yes, Minecraft is banned because Survival Mode requires you to defend yourself against the zombie-like Mobs, which sometimes means you having to kill them. As the region's Hurriyet Daily News reports, the Ministry also says that some kids could confuse Minecraft's blocky and pixelated landscapes with the real world, which could cause them to believe that torturing animals was fine. Sure; okay. The reason behind the company watching Microsoft's $2.5 billion acquisition in the first place? To determine whether the game encourages violence against women. At the very least, its heart was in the right spot at the outset.
Even if you only have a basic knowledge of Minecraft it is likely that the whole idea sounds too bizarre to be real. Sadly, that isn't the situation. VentureBeat points out that Turkey would be the first to ban the game in the event that the Ministry's petition proves successful, but Turkey doesn't have a history banning violent games. Given the government's history of preventing access to sites like Twitter and YouTube, however, it isn't clear if it'll follow suit with Mojang's new baby.
