Hats for the Shadow and Bone television series

Shadow and Bone was created by Netflix based on Leigh Bardugo’s Grishaverse novels. It is a bold, introspective show that is easy to follow even if the books are not read.

It is true that the series pays homage to its sources, but it also has big swings. Season 2 is an example of that, as it incorporates plots from the Shadow and Bone trilogy and Bardugo’s Six of Crows with its own changes.

The most notable is the racial conflict in the show. Ravka citizens are resentful of Mal (Archie Renaux), despite the fact that he appears to be white. This is a good move since it makes the series more nuanced, and therefore more interesting.

The subplot of Kaz's crew from Six of Crows, who are involved in a heist, works quite well. According to Eric Heisserer (co-showrunner) and Daegan Frryklind (showrunner), the episode titles carry a deep significance.
