Preventive Measures for the Prevention of Occupational Health Hazards in Ghana
Occupational health hazards are workplace risks that threaten the well-being of workers. These risks include exposure to toxic chemicals, vibrations, noise, and more. They can be avoided by effective controls.

An effective hazard control plan identifies hazards and assigns responsibility for controlling them. It should also include provisions for protecting workers during foreseeable emergencies. The plan should be reviewed periodically to verify that the controls are still working effectively.

In developing countries, biological hazards are a common occupational health risk. For example, exposure to dusts and toxins can lead to respiratory sensitization, asthma, and other serious illnesses. Other risks include exposure to blood and other body fluids, and infection.

Biological health hazards can be prevented by limiting exposure to these substances. Ideally, the best prevention is to eliminate these health hazards. However, if engineering and administrative controls are not feasible, personal protective equipment should be employed.

Although these studies provide some guidance for improving occupational safety and health in the healthcare sector in Ghana, they also showed that more research is needed. A greater emphasis should be placed on identifying all possible hazards and implementing effective controls.
