Minecraft Snapshot 17w47b

This week's snapshot shows us the long-awaited "flattening" that is set to completely destroy everything. Sorry. Make backups.





Changes in 17w47a




- Implemented suggestions for commands for blocks and items

Chat Settings now have an option to switch off automatic command suggestions (defaults to on, if not press tab)

- Eliminated the concept "block data" and "item data", completely and totally

You can break up and rename nearly every block and item.

The ability has been added to allow us to add new blocks in the future again! Hurrah!


I'm aware of new blocks but I'd like to make sure you are aware of that

everything will probably be broken

and to go make backups instead of focusing on new stuff

Fixed bug MC-122228 that occurs when opening a double (trapped chest) causes the open and close sounds twice


- Fixed bug MC-122233 - Spruce, birch, jungle, dark oak, and acacia trapdoors can't be made.


- Fixed bug MC-1222235 - The Nether portal blocks have not been correctly generated


- Fixed bug MC-122242. Shulker box no longer shows the block behind.

Backup your worlds prior to trying them in this snapshot. Don't expect worlds created in this snapshot to work in future snapshots.





But seriously

This snapshot represents several years of internal refactoring, allowing us to have nearly infinite block and item IDs. We fully anticipate that everything will fail. Make backups.

Install the snapshot

Please report any bugs you find in Minecraft to bugs.mojang.com. We cannot fix a bug without a report!



To download snapshots, launch your launcher and click the "launch options" tab. Make sure you tick the box that says "Enable snapshots" and save. To switch between the snapshot and normal version, you can find an additional dropdown menu right next to the "Play" button. Backup your entire world before you run the game in an alternative folder (in the "launch options") page.
