Children to design a national park in Minecraft
Adelaide schoolchildren were invited to design a Minecraft national park that could be built in real life.
Students aged nine to twelve were asked to design their designs within the 3D world.
The results could then be incorporated in upgrades to existing national parks around Adelaide.
The government has allocated nearly $10.4m Australian dollars (PS5.4m) to redesign the.
It was keen to find a fresh way to engage young people in its activities.
"This contest is part of a project to engage the community asking people of all ages to suggest what kind of facilities would inspire them to spend more time in national parks," reads the Natural Resources, Adelaide website which announced the prize.
"The State government has allotted $10.4m for parks projects. So some of the ideas you brainstorm in class could be used."
The only rule is that "whatever you design must be able to be created in the real world" It added.
"The park's features should be a part of the natural surroundings and take into account the species of animals and plants that live there."
Ideas could include trails for mountain biking, bushwalking or barbecues, horse riding and picnic areas - or something completely different." it suggested.

Redesigning slums
There is a growing trend to create ever more exciting designs in Minecraft.
The Danish government has been able to map the entire country the game, as part of a project to educate.
Mojang is the creators and developers of Minecraft, teamed with the UN in 2012 to assist them design cities in developing countries.
They designed public spaces and shared the spaces with groups of community. The participants could then redesign the spaces.
The project has inspired new ideas for green areas in Kiberia (the largest slum in Nairobi) and was used to create a new waterfront at Les Cayes, Haiti's largest city.
The Adelaide competition will close on June 12th and the winner will be announced one month later.
The winners will receive an official trip to the Belair National Park.
