Journey Paths and Path Optimizer
leadership are a method for measuring the route a user takes to reach their destination (like buying something or signing up for services). They allow you to visualize potential alternative routes, measure completion rates and uncover unexpected alternate pathways.

Journey maps are ideal for scenarios that involve a series of events (like buying a new car), detail a process (like booking a trip), or involve multiple channels and transitions over time. They also help identify the most efficient ways to contact your contacts along each step so that they have the best experience.

Scenario: The scenario outlines the situation that this journey map is designed to address, as well as specific expectations for each contact. This may include goals or needs and may also include how they will receive a response.

Starting Points: On a journey map, the starting points are actions and rules you want your contacts to take when they reach certain milestones in their journey. These could include things like "send email" or "add tag." Plotting leadership on the map helps determine how contacts move through it.

Actions and rules are the steps your contacts will take in order to reach their journey goal. Add these to your map so that you can send them the right content at the appropriate time.

Rules and actions can include sending an email, adding a tag or creating a landing page. They're also useful for setting when your contacts should receive events (like product views or sign up forms), messages (like announcements or welcome emails), etc.

Completion Rate: The completion rate demonstrates the percentage of users who completed all steps on a journey. This metric can be useful when monitoring your journey, as it indicates how many users are on the same page simultaneously.

Session Limit: This option allows you to limit the maximum number of times a user can complete a journey within a given date range. You can set this limit per session or across all sessions within that date range.

Flow control activities have always served the need to test and experiment with content, sending frequency, and channel type. Prior to Path Optimizer's introduction, these flow control operations waited for something (by duration, attribute or until a certain date).

Engagement Splits: These flow controls enable you to segment your journey according to engagement metrics such as opens, clicks and unsubscribes. The path with the highest engagement wins out, and all contacts on that path will receive the winning message.

Path Optimizer activity helps you accomplish this goal, automatically or manually selecting a winner within an agreed-upon timeframe based on engagement metrics. You can select this activity when designing a new journey or while an existing journey is running.
