Minecraft: how to Build A Windmill

Step 1: Locate a flat land that is of a suitable size, somewhere surrounded by grass helps the mill appear more realistic once it's finished. You can skip this step and build your mill on a volcano.

Step 2: Make a 10x10 square to start the foundation of your windmill.

Step 3: Create this first shape five blocks tall.

Step 4: Seal off this first section by an overhang.

Step 5: Decide which side of the box will be front, and then construct the door on that side.

Step 6: Cut the grass in the first section , and then replace it with an appropriate floor material. Wood will do but you can also experiment with different colors of wool.

Step 7: Make an incline that breaks out of the ground floor section.

Step 8: Build another two blocks around your structure.

Step 9 Add an additional box shape to the existing one, with dimensions of 8x8x5 and WxLxH.

Step 10 Step 10: Next, make a third box of dimensions 6x6x5.

Step 11: Finally build an additional box on top, with dimensions of 4x4x5.

Step 12: Carefully remove the corners from all the box shapes you've created so far.

Step 13: Replace the blocks with a darker material unprocessed wood can be used. This provides the windmill with an interesting detail and stops it from appearing boring.

Step 14: Place a few blocks on top of your mill. These are the blades.

Step 15: Make 4 homogeneous blades using colored wool. Make them at least 10 blocks long

Step 16: Remove the middle section from your wool blades.

Step 17: Replace the removed parts with a fencepost. This gives the blades a sturdy feel and makes it look more authentic from a distance.

Step 18: Return inside to build a balcony attached the second box shape we created earlier. Decorate it with things such as an outdoor table or barbecue.

Step 19: Add a series of ladders leading up to the top of your mill.

Step 20: If you'd like, you can put in torches all over the place to help keep it safe from zombies at night or to make it look nicer.

Step 21: Create an opening from the 2nd box that we built earlier, and look out onto your balcony.

Step 22 If you haven't done so already you can add support columns to the balcony. They do nothing other than make the mill look more authentic.

Step 23: Head back inside to build the mechanism for milling wheat. The primary components you'll need to create for this are a long shaft that runs from the top, where the blades are down to the bottom where you'll need to put two flat surfaces to grind the wheat between. Unfortunately Minecraft isn't able to create large mechanical devices that work like this, so you'll need to think up a bit here.

Step 24: You can complete the job by creating an in-between garden next to your mill. You can also build an enormous wheat farm next to your mill If you are feeling the need.
