Technoblade, 'Minecraft' YouTube Creator, Dies Aged 23

Technoblade the top Minecraft YouTuber, has passed away aged 23 after a battle with cancer.



Technoblade the creator's father, posted a touching video to YouTube on Thursday entitled "so long geeks". It included a message by Technoblade. The video had been planned with his family over his final months, but was written by Technoblade around eight hours before he died, his father said. The rapper revealed his real name in the message: Alex.



"Hello everyone, Technoblade here. If you're watching this. I'm dead," he wrote in the message, read by his father. "Thank you all for supporting my work over the years. If I had another 100 lives, I think I would choose to be Technoblade again every single time since those were the most enjoyable years of my life."



His father said in the video that he was "the most amazing child you could ever ask for." Technoblade is my personal favorite.



Technoblade who has 10.8 million followers on YouTube announced his diagnosis of cancer on the platform in August 2021.



Technoblade's family posted an apology at the end of Thursday's video.



"We the Technoblade family Technoblade, wanted you all to know how much he loved and valued his followers and colleagues. Technoblade was an online community from its infancy. He was always looking for ways to delight and give his followers a reward," it said.



"Even after his eventual successes he somehow managed to keep his good-natured humour, and compete with a likable balance between self-confidence and self-deprecating with. He was averse to fame and worked hard to keep his identity private. We would like to ask you to respect his wishes to guard his privacy and the privacy of his family."



Technoblade's online store has an obituary in honor of his memory, stating that a percentage of the profits from online orders will be donated to the Sarcoma Foundation of America. "This online store is being managed by Technoblade's family. We are grateful for the joy he's brought over the years and we want to continue spreading his message," it says.



A black T-shirt is one of the items in the store. It is adorned with the words "so long geeks" printed underneath.



Technoblade's friends and fans have also posted touching tributes to him online. Some are fellow creators, others are collaborators, and a few have been following Technoblade for a long time.



Hypixel, an online Minecraft minigame server, shared a powerful tribute to Technoblade too because Technoblade was a frequent player on the server. In a statement, the founder and CEO Simon Collins Laflamme described Technoblade as "one of the most globally loved YouTubers."

"He will be remembered fondly and will be missed deeply," the post read. "He was a generous young, talented, and passionate man with extraordinary potential. We are so thankful to him and grateful to have him as such a prominent part of the greater community. In many ways the success of a lot of us is directly related to the success of Technoblade.



Technoblade's staff was also encouraged to pay tribute to the team in "any main lobby" of the server.



Technoblade created his channel in 2013 and quickly gained acclaim. Technoblade has been described as "one of the top Minecraft players in the space of content creators".
