Sejenis raksasa berlendir dan memiliki gigi yang besar. Biasanya Ghoul hidup atau tinggal di loteng dan gudang milik para penyihir. Dikenal berisik karena suara erangan mereka dan juga kebiasaan buruk mereka yang suka melempar benda-benda. Untuk makanan, Ghoul biasanya mengonsumsi serangga dan hama rumah tangga seperti tikus.
Jenis dari Ghoul pada umumnya adalah jenis Chameleon Ghoul. Kementerian Sihir memiliki divisi yang bernama Ghoul Task Force yang berada dibawah naugan dari Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures. tugasnya adalah menyingkirkan Ghoul yang tidak diinginkan/menganggu (seperti muncul di hadapan para Muggle). Ghoul juga diajarkan pada Kelas Studi Ghoul di Hogwarts. Pelajaran ini diajarkan diluar kelas, lebih tepatnya di koridor yang berbelit-belit(?).
