What Is The Reason Railroad Workers Is The Best Choice For You?
Union Pacific Houston Cancer - Is Creosote Still Affecting Houstonians?

For decades, residents of Houston's Fifth Ward have argued the company hasn't done enough to remove creosote in the underground air at its rail yard that is contaminated. Now, the most recent tests suggest that the contamination could still be affecting people who live near.

Researchers believe that it could be due to the high number of cancers that are found in the area. Two years into a state health investigation the researchers found higher than anticipated levels of childhood lymphoblastic leukemia as well as adult kidney and renal pelvis cancers in areas around the Union Pacific site.

Creosote

Creosote, a chemical commonly used for the treatment of wood, is also a common one. It is also a poisonous substance and can cause cancers in those exposed to it.

It is a heavy oily substance, from amber to black in color. It has a smoky scent and a burnt taste. It is a coal tar distillation product that has been used for over 150 years as an ingredient in wood preservative.

In the United States, it is used to treat railroad ties and other types of wood, including fence posts, utility poles and marine pilings. It can also be used to guard log homes and other structures against rot and insect infestation.

According to the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) creosote can be a potentially dangerous chemical. Exposure to creosote for short periods can cause skin and eye irritation, chemical burns, stomach pains, burning of throat or mouth and liver or kidney issues and even permanent damage.

Exposure for long periods can cause skin and scrotum tumors. This is a serious concern for those who come into direct contact with it during wood treatment or in other manufacturing processes.

According to the EPA the EPA, it is a likely human cancer-causing agent. It has been linked with several cancers such as esophageal cancer as well lung cancer.

Railroad Workers Cancer Lawsuit have been exposed for decades to creosote, due to a former railroad yard near their homes. They claim that the chemical has affected their soil, homes and is spreading underground.

Harris County and Houston have joined forces in the fight against Union Pacific in federal court. They are demanding that the company test for contamination on a regular basis and take preventative measures to prevent the spread.

A group of Fifth Ward neighbors filed a lawsuit against Union Pacific in October of 2017. They allege that creosote from the former rail yard is contaminating the soil beneath their homes and is causing serious health issues.

They are seeking compensation for their diseases and suffering and damages from the railroad for the cost of cleanup and other associated costs. They claim that they have been harmed by environmental racism and discrimination, as well as other types of pollution that have affected them and their families.

Dioxin

Dioxins are chemicals that do not degrade quickly in the environment, and they can be found in the soil, air, water or sediment for a long time. They are found in a variety of places in natural disasters, industrial accidents, cigarette smoke, and incineration or hazardous waste.

The effects of dioxin on health are not known at low levels, but there is evidence that they may cause cancer as well as other serious diseases. The people who are exposed to higher levels are believed to be at a higher risk of heart disease, organ cancers immune system problems, and endocrine changes including hormonal imbalances. They can also cause hormonal issues, weakened immunity, diabetes, menstrual issues and weight loss.

According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) the most prevalent way people are exposed is through food and water. They are not volatile and water-soluble so they are more easily absorbable by the body via the intake of meat, dairy products, fish, and other seafood.

It is important to remember, however, that exposure to dioxins could have a detrimental effect on your health based on a variety of factors like how much you drink, eat, and the frequency with which you breathe. It is also crucial to consider your age, gender, diet, nutritional status and family characteristics and other health factors that could determine whether you'll be affected by dioxins or not.

In addition, the form of contaminant can be an important aspect. According to the EPA, some toxins are more dangerous than others to human health. For instance, polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCBs) are more likely to have a negative effect on your health than creosote.

For example, PCBs can damage a person's eyes, kidneys, and liver. They also can harm the immune system and cause problems with the growth of healthy teeth, bones and bones.

Houston's Fifth Ward and Kashmere Garden neighbors have complained for years of cluster of cancer deaths caused by the Union Pacific rail yard. The yard is located next to their homes. The city's health department said on Friday that it has found cancer-causing chemicals in surface samples around the rail yard. The release said that the findings were "not encouraging." Mayor Sylvester Turner told FOX 26 that he's going to take legal action against Union Pacific over the matter and also said that a plan that he submitted to Texas environmental regulators isn't sufficient in light of the findings.

Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCBs)

PCBs, also referred to as polychlorinated biphenyls, are harmful chemicals that have been used for over 60 years in both consumer and industrial products. PCBs were banned in 1979, after they were found to cause cancer, inhibit the immune system, and hinder learning.

PCBs can be harmful to soil and water as well as air in many areas of the globe once they are released into the environment. They are extremely binders to organic matter, and are often persistent that means they are easy to transport and build up in the environment.

Railroad Cancer Lawsuit are a major problem for protecting the environment as well as public health. The EPA is adamant that they are a human carcinogen and has proved that they can cause cancer in laboratory animals.

Certain studies also show a link between PCBs to birth defects in children. This is particularly true for children who have been exposed to these chemicals while during the pregnancy.

PCBs are most commonly ingested through food. Because they are the highest in PCBs fish is the primary source of exposure. But, PCBs can also be present in beef and dairy and other agricultural products.

Another way to be exposed PCBs is through drinking and showering with water that is affected by PCBs. This could be due to leaks or spills that could be caused by electrical or other equipment.

People may also be exposed to PCBs through breathing in the air or through skin contact. These chemicals can trigger an illness known as chloracne which is a tiny, pale skin lesions that can be present for a period of weeks or years.

Cancer Lawsuit Settlements of PCBs upon human health are still not fully understood. Some researchers have suggested that they could cause liver and the biliary tract cancers in humans, but more research is needed to find out the extent to which this impacts us.

EPA has also been examining whether these chemicals could cause birth defects for newborns, including low birth weight. A low birth weight has been linked with insulin resistance, or Type II diabetes, high blood pressure and cardiovascular disease later in the course of. In two studies, children born with higher levels of PCBs in their cord blood had lower body weight at birth, and/or later in childhood.

Lead

Lead is a toxic metal that is found in many products like paints, pipes and food cans. The body can absorb it through two routes: the respiratory and oral.

It is an extremely chemical that can oxidize and react with other chemicals in your environment. This can cause it to accumulate within the body. This can cause serious health issues like cancer, among other diseases.

Houston residents who live near the Union Pacific Railroad's creosote-based plant that is its legacy are at a high risk of cancer. The city has requested the federal government's help in cleaning up the railroad's toxic site.

Union Pacific Railroad has a history of having contaminated its Fifth Ward rail yard and Kashmere Garden neighborhood with chemicals that can cause cancer. The railroad has been trying to eliminate the mess, but a plan submitted to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality is not sufficient residents say.

The plume of groundwater below homes in the affected area is among the most severe effects of the contamination. A recent study by health officials has revealed that soil samples taken from the rail yard contain a higher concentration of creosote than that recommended for drinking water.

Another concern is the slow release of creosote into the atmosphere. It causes residents to breathe toxic levels of vapors which can be fatal for both children and adults.

Railroad Cancer Lawyer is also possible that vapors are causing cancers in the residents who are breathing the vapors. To find out more about the effects of the vapors' effects on the lives of residents, a door-to-door survey is being done in the neighborhood.

This is a major problem for the Fifth Ward and Kashmere Garden communities. This is a terribly sad situation that must be dealt with immediately.

A recent study conducted by the Department of State Health Services found that children in the Fifth Ward and Kashmere Garden communities contracted a type leukemia at five times more frequently than was expected. The study also found that adult cancers were more common in these areas than elsewhere in Texas.
