How to Be Safe Online

Your new Xbox Live account gives you access to a myriad of settings that allow you and your family, play how you want online. Pirateportal You can manage all of your settings at account.xbox.com/settings but here's a rundown of the most important ones:

"JOIN MULTIPLAYER GAME" SETTINGS

If your settings are set to block joining multiplayer games, you are unable to play multiplayer games on Minecraft, including shared local worlds, Realms or servers. To enable multiplayer in Minecraft ensure that this setting is set to Allow.'

"OTHERS CAN COMMUNICATE VOICE, TXT, AND INVITES" SETTINGS

If your settings are to block communication with other players, you will be allowed to play in multiplayer experiences across Minecraft however, you won't be able receive chat messages from other players or receive invites to join in games with other players.

Child Accounts - UNDER 13S

You must have parental consent to create an Xbox Live account if you are less than 13 years old. Parents can add a child account at https://account.microsoft.com/family/addmember.

By default all child accounts are set to have their communication and multiplayer settings disabled. This means that until a parent logs into the account and alters the settings to enable multiplayer, child accounts can't play on other player's worlds, or on Realms or servers or chat with other players online.

General Tips for Staying Safe ONLINE IN MINECRAFT

There are plenty of great guides on how to stay safe online (here's one we'd like to recommend!) but here are a few Minecraft-specific advice.

Do not share your Xbox LIVE ACCOUNT PASSWORD

Your account not only includes your personal information, but also if you have a Realm or have made a purchase in the marketplace, it also is the record of your online purchases made in Minecraft. You should not divulge your Xbox Live account password.

THERE'S NO WAY TO GET FREE MINECRAFT COINS OR MARKETPLACE CONTENT

Anyone who asks for account details or personal information and then promises you Minecraft Coins or content in return is up to no good! There is no other way to get Coins or market content or to send Coins to someone else than through the game.
