Filmmaker Ben Wheatley has revealed how he used the video game Minecraft to help him construct the set for his latest action film Free Fire.
Brie Larson, Sharlto Copley, Sharlto Murphy Sharlto Murphy, Brie Larson, and Michael Smiley star in the film. The film is dominated by a complex shootout that takes place in an abandoned factory.
During a Q&A about the film in Inverness, Wheatley said he first created the factory's layout in Minecraft.
This was a great way to guide the physical scale models and the final set.
Wheatley, director of High-Rise and Sightseers was in Inverness Monday to take part in an itinerary of UK cinemas to promote his film, before it goes to general release.
The film-maker last visited the Highland city as a young man in the 1970s.

Free Fire also stars Armie Hamer, while Martin Scorsese is the executive producer. Scorsese is a huge fan of Wheatley’s 2011 movie Kill List.
He stated that he was currently working on an adaptation for Frank Miller's graphic novel Hard Boiled during the Eden Court question and answer session.
Miller's Sin City stories have previously been made into films.
Wheatley declared that the adaptation was still in the process of writing and could take up to four years before it's ready to be made into film.
