MGMT Merch Review
In the past decade, the Brooklyn-based duo MGMT have become one of the most adored bands. Their debut Oracular Spectacular single produced three massive singles that became a mainstay at dance events and Discovery Weekly playlists. The band's psychedelic, ethereal music would soon become the mainstay of festivals and opened doors to the likes of Foster The People and Foxygen.


MGMT has always been pushing the boundaries in popular music throughout their long careers. They're a huge hit due to their eclectic tastes and love of the psychedelic genre. They've also been performing all the time since their initial breakthrough, earning them a large fan base as well as a spot on a variety of high-profile artist lists.


But, despite their initial popularity, it appears that MGMT have been stuck in the second-half of their career in a slump. Although the group's most recent album, Congratulations, may not be as successful as their earlier career but it's still an important powerful and compelling record that is a stand-alone merit.



The band's debut album in 2007, Oracular Spectacular, the New York City band exploded into the music world. It contained three songs that received huge acclaim across the world. mgmtmerch was a record that brought in the age of psychedelic, electronic music and paved the way for a new generation of artists.


Following Oracular Spectacular, however, they took a turn and started writing songs that were more rooted the psychedelic inclinations of the band rather than their dance-pop sensibilities. While they did get off to a solid start with their follow-up album, Congratulations (2010), it didn't have the same commercial success as their first.


While Congratulations was their sophomore album, it marked a major deviation from their previous. But, the group continued to pursue their originality and their unique and personal style. They were able to be a distinct entity in larger contexts and not be overwhelmed by unneeded flourishes. This enabled them to create more experimental moments on the second album.


The songs "Electric Feel", "Time to Pretend" and "Kids" are famous and have been heard on radio stations of all sizes and at dance events. These songs evoke the feeling of being swept by the excitement of the moment, and they're the ones that most listeners remember.


Live shows are live and MGMT often performed with an ensemble of drummers and keyboardists. They've also incorporated elements of acoustic guitar as well as synthesizers and bass to their music. Live performances of theirs have the feel of a post-apocalyptic ambiance and are a lot of fun to see.


MGMT is working on some new projects. Fans can anticipate new merchandise in the coming year! The band's new T-shirts featuring a classic MGMT image, are now available in both unisex and women's cuts.
