Microsoft is expanding its world of Minecraft into a brand new action-adventure game called Minecraft Legends. The title, scheduled to launch in 2023, challenges players to explore the Minecraft world while it's being taken over by a nefarious force.
Mojang studios of Microsoft who creates Minecraft has described this latest game as a familiar and in many ways-new experience that is more focused on strategy and battle. The original Minecraft game was released in 2011. It lets players build and explore while sometimes fighting zombie-like creatures.
Microsoft announced that you will be the center of any battle you take on by fighting alongside allies and guiding them," in an announcement teaser. SERVER LIST Microsoft stated that it has partnered with Blackbird Interactive, which also developed the upcoming space strategy game Homeworld 3.
Just that Minecraft Legends comes from a popular title doesn't guarantee success however. Minecraft is a well-known video game that ranks right there with Super Mario Bros., Grand Theft Auto and Tetris. However, its efforts to expand beyond the popular formula have been intermittent.
Minecraft Dungeons, an action-adventure game in Minecraft's style was met with mixed reviews when it debuted two years ago, as per an investigation by Metacritic. Another CNET corporate partner, GameSpot, gave the game an "good" review, stating that the biggest disappointment was that Minecraft Dungeons focused on fighting monsters rather than offering a new twist on its namesake's formula of world building. GameSpot's Steve Watts stated that the game is not changing our expectations of what games should be. Instead, it's relying on its own popularity.
Microsoft announced Minecraft Legends at its annual summer video game showcase, which is held online this year. The game will be available on Xbox, PC, and cloud gaming next year.
