Highly Rated Hospitals at Atlanta's Northside Perimeter
The Dunwoody/Sandy Springs area of Atlanta's northside perimeter contains three of the city's most highly rated hospitals. A healthcare facility was established in 1880 as Atlanta Hospital, the first medical facility in the town after the Civil War. Many years were spent in facilities downtown before the hospital moved to its current 32 acre campus in 1978. Following the move the hospital was renamed Saint Joseph's. It was formed in 1998 when Egleston Children's Health Care System merged with Scottish Rite Medical Center to become Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.
